Jacob Schaffer Shares Acoustic Cover Of ‘Sure Thing’

American singer and songwriter Jacob Schaffer has just unveiled his brand new single Sure Thing, a stunning acoustic take on Miguel's R&B Pop classic. 

 

Schaffer's inspiration for this cover originated from his love to finger pick some chords on his acoustic guitar, as a way to find peace and find what his true voice sounds like. This full version gained momentum after he posted the chorus online and then it just blew up on his socials. I am really enjoying this intimate, soulful and heartfelt take on this hit song, beautifully showcasing Jacob's guitar skills and gorgeous vocals which radiate raw emotion and soul from start to finish. This is one of those songs perfect for intimate, laid-back moments and to truly connect to one's voice and artistry.

Speaking about the song, Jacob Schaffer said,

I really believe that a good song holds up in any genre. It’s the voice of the artist that stands out in a different way. Most people emulate their influences and I was approaching these little cover song experiments purposefully from genres that aren’t my natural style in order to find my voice by stripping the song back on the acoustic guitar. But one day I made a simple post of the chorus of “Sure Thing”. It wasn’t big, but it had an above average response that gave me a glimmer of hope. But here is the real lesson for me. Almost 2 years later I decided to post my cover of the “Sure Thing” chorus again and it got even more likes than that old post. So I kept doing it, got over my fear of being annoying or whatever, did the TikTok thing of being super repetitive. I thought more about how to make it as art and not just a post. It started growing more until people were begging me to make a full version in the comments, so I hyped them up a bit longer and released a full version in my own voice. It’s streaming everywhere, so go check it out! I even changed some of the lyrics in the verses to sound more honest to who I am.
