What drew me towards this song was the tone of his voice and how smooth, yet powerful, his vocal delivery is, gliding effortlessly over the captivating production. Ransom is a song about regret, missed opportunities, and looking back on a relationship that slipped away because both were emotionally unavailable at the wrong times. It's a song about being haunted by the feeling that you should have chosen love when you had the chance. 

 

A very relatable storytelling that is flawlessly conveyed through Ellison's gorgeous, expressive vocals which are accompanied by intricate, sun-soaked guitar lines nicely intertwined with steady drum patterns and cool rhythms that come together to create an overall warm, laid-back listening experience perfect for a chilled out weekend!
