Ananya Shares New Single ‘Man of the Match’

Zimbabwe-born, London-based indie pop artist Ananya shares her brand new single Man of the Match, a spunky, will-they-won’t-they pop track that embraces the giddiness and exhilarating uncertainty of having an unexpected crush.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by Simon Jacobsson, Man of the Match tells the story of falling for someone when you didn’t intend to, beautifully capturing the nerve-wracking thrill of falling for someone and wondering uf they feel the same way. It flings Ananya into a dreamy, carefree direction, whisking the listener away with the mesmerisation of a new love interest.
A relatable story that is flawlessly conveyed through Ananya's rich, expressive vocals which are accompanied by a playful pop production that fittingly bubbles like butterflies in one’s stomach, transforming feelings of uncertainty into glimmering musings. Apart from her vocals, I am very fond of the lush guitar and bass riffs and how they are nicely intertwined with steady drum beats and catchy textures that come together to create an overall upbeat, feel-good atmosphere perfect for a carefree summer's day.
Speaking about the song, Ananya said,
It lives in that push-and-pull of playing it cool, but lowkey hoping they’d catch you if you actually went for it. It’s confident on the surface, a little chaotic underneath, and all about that moment where it stops feeling like a game and starts feeling real.
