Maryn Charlie Shares New Single ‘Hit By Lightning’

Amsterdam-based artist Maryn Charlie has just shared her brand new single Hit By Lightning, an upbeat gem taken from her latest EP, Threads, which is out now via [PIAS] Recordings Holland. 

 

What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how dreamy Maryn Charlie's vocal delivery is, gliding effortlessly over the infectious production. Hit By Lightning finds the talented artist singing about wanting everything from life but keeping getting in your own way, exhausted by your own ambition and the emotional cost of trusting the wrong people. A song about wanting to be seen and realising the chaos of one's overactive mind that wants a lot but can't quite figure out how to get there. A relatable storytelling that is flawlessly conveyed through her stunning vocals which are beautifully accompanied by a memorable driving beat nicely intertwined with bright synth lines and lush rhythms that come together to create an overall warm, feel-good listening experience.

Speaking about the song, Maryn Charlie said,

'Hit by Lightning,' is about the longing to stand out and be recognized in a world where you felt invisible for a long time. I have felt invisible my whole life. When I was a kid I was very shy, I was too scared to say anything in the classroom. Sometimes I even thought the teachers didn’t know my name. With this song i’m portraying the feeling of wanting to be seen. Not in a way of ‘look at me, i’m amazing’. But i’m ready to show the world who I am, in my own way.
