Vinyl Floor Share New Single "I'm on the Upside"
Vinyl Floor's latest single "I'm on the Upside" is exactly the kind of song the Copenhagen duo does best. Brothers Daniel Pedersen and Thomas Charlie Pedersen have always had a soft spot for classic guitar pop, and this one leans right into that with bright, jangling guitars and a driving rhythm that makes the whole thing feel like it was made for an open road. Recorded at Studio Möllan in Sweden with producer Emil Isaksson, the arrangement stays lean and uncluttered, giving everything room to breathe without overcomplicating what is already a pretty irresistible song.
Daniel steps out from behind the drum kit to handle lead vocals here, and he sounds completely at home doing it. There is a natural warmth to his delivery that fits the song's loose, optimistic energy, while the layered harmonies nod to the golden age of melodic rock without feeling like a costume. Daniel Hecht adds some nice guitar texture throughout, and bassist Jakob Gulbrandt Koldenborg keeps the whole thing grounded with a groove that never lets up. Mixed by Søren Vestergaard at the Shelter, "I'm on the Upside" is a straightforward reminder of how good this band sounds when they are just doing their thing.
