"Forever" by Julia Thomsen is out now and it crept up on me in a way I was not expecting.

I had it on in the background, half paying attention, and then I caught myself just sitting there doing nothing. Not scrolling, not thinking about the next thing. Just listening and I cannot tell you exactly when that happened, which is kind of the whole point.

The piano at the start is unassuming and it almost tricks you. There is no hook, no moment designed to grab you. Julia plays like the room is empty and she has nowhere else to be. That kind of stillness is genuinely difficult to pull off and most people who try it end up sounding flat. She does not.
