Minute Taker Shares New Single ‘Surrender to the Night’

British singer, songwriter and producer Minute Taker (Ben McGarvey) returns with a spellbinding new single Surrender to the Night, a neon-drenched, retro-futuristic journey into escapism, self-reckoning and queer euphoria.

Out now via Octagonal Records, Surrender to the Night is the first release from his forthcoming album The Oblivion, due for release in early 2026, and finds the artist sharing a message about seeking connection, freedom and thrill beyond the structures of everyday life. A relatable storytelling that is wrapped around a retro-infused production on which his passionate, heartfelt vocals soar effortlessly over, beautifully capturing our attention from start to finish. Apart from his soaring vocals, I am particularly fond of the sweeping 80s synths that are nicely intertwined with catchy beats, cinematic breakdowns and a killer sax solo from Jesse Molloy (The Midnight) that together make this quite a memorable and enthralling listening experience.

Speaking about the song, Minute Taker said,
Rather than sitting around feeling sorry for myself and watching Netflix, I decided to get stuck into something creative. It’s about that moment where you abandon the day and give in to the rush of the night - the exhilaration, the escape, the chaos.

The single arrives alongside a music video directed by Brett De Vos (Lost Frequencies, Callum Scott); the first chapter in a trilogy that makes up Nocturnal Monologues, a short film commissioned by Waterside. In it, we follow a lone character drifting through a misty, moonlit cityscape in search of desire, connection and meaning. Part Blade Runner, part The Lost Boys, the visual world of ‘The Oblivion’ is as rich and mysterious as the music itself.
