Mo Klé Shares New Single ‘King of Mediocrity’

Mo Klé, the moniker of Swiss singer and songwriter René Grünenfelder, has just shared his brand new single King of Mediocrity, the first single to be taken from his upcoming album Three Chords and a Shaking Hand.

What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how expressive Mo Klé's vocal delivery is, beautifully capturing our attention to his relatable storytelling. King of Mediocrity is a song about the doubt of not being good enough, and the desire to be seen and loved despite one’s shortcomings. Through witty metaphors, the song finds one accepting being average, flawed and unseen, questioning why love so often feels conditional on success or brilliance. A relatable storytelling that is wrapped around a production that sits somewhere between Indie, Pop, and Folk—with a hook that catches immediately and lingers long after. Apart from those gorgeosu vocals, I am particularly fond of the driving guitars nicely intertwined with steady drums and groovy rhythms that together make this quite a warm and enthralling listening experience perfect for a laid-back weekend!

Speaking about the song, Mo Klé said,
I wanted to write a song about accepting that we’re not perfect—and about the beauty that can often be found in exactly that. I felt that this song is the perfect door-opener for the new album. The lightness and humour of this track does the album good—it reminds me not to take myself too seriously.
