Puma June Shares New Single ‘Nobody’
Puma June, the moniker of Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter Shanti Abbott, has just shared her brand new single Nobody, the latest single to be taken from her debut EP, A Woman That They Want, released earlier this year.
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how smooth and soulful Puma June's vocals sound, gliding effortlessly over the captivating neo-soul-infused contemporary r&b production. Nobody finds the talented artist singing about the tension between external judgement and internal limiation, reinforcing themes of self-worth, bodily autonomy and unseen power. Accompanying her stunning vocals we have gentle piano keys nicely intertwined with a killer bass, subtle rhythms and steady drum beats that come together to create an overall warm atmosphere perfect for an introspective day alone.
Its official music video, shot in Los Angeles and directed by long-time collaborator Arden Grier, features a series of bold visuals – from tattooed brows to a surreal scene of swallowing herself. Check it out below!
