meka, the moniker of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melissa Lingo, shares her brand new single What Once Was, a hauntingly poetic tribute to the archetype of the hag—an ode to forgotten power, feminine chaos, and the flickering persistence of hope. 

 

This is the latest single to be taken from her new album The Rabbit, which is out today on Dumont Dumont and includes the previously released gems Tomato Song and Baby Blues. I am a fan of her poetic storytelling with evocative imagery, tenderness and mysticism that is beautifully conveyed through her rich, enchanting vocals. Accompanying her lovely vocals we have stripped-back acoustic textures, featuring delicate guitar plucks nicely intertwined with lush strings that come together to create an overall warm and intimate atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone!
