St. Lucia Share New Single ‘Rolling Man’
St. Lucia, the acclaimed synth-pop project led by husband-and-wife duo Jean-Philip Grobler and Patti Beranek, share their brand new single Rolling Man, a high-energy, liberating piece of indie-pop/indietronica.
Taken from their forthcoming album Fata Morgana: Dawn, out March 14th via Nettwerk, Rolling Man is bursting with energy right from the start and just got me in a good mood and ready to go out and have fun. The song conveys a sense of leaving the past behind, being tired of waiting and just take charge and move on, refusing to be tied down. A song about breaking free from constraints and embracing an unstoppable spirit that is flawlessly conveyed through Jean-Philip's passionate vocals which are accompanied by lively brass elements nicely intertwined with intricate guitar riffs, groovy rhythms, punchy drums, killer keys, bright synths and a memorable driving beat that together create a high-energy, blissful and liberating atmosphere that got me energised and ready for a fun weekend!
Frontman Jean-Philip Grobler shares this on the track,
To me it feels like this song is about being free. It’s about not waiting for or asking permission to do things and about just sorta taking the bull by the horns and going forth. Jumping off the cliff with no fear. Things will change, bad things will happen but you have to just put one foot in front of the other and carry on. It’s a tribute to those people who choose to take a different and non-traditional path in life, despite all the risks involved. The song was written during the tour for our third album Hyperion in 2018, and recorded with our whole live band (and no metronome) at Mission Sound in Brooklyn in August of 2019.
