Nathaniel Paul Shares New Single ‘The Girl with No Tattoo’
Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer, songwriter and 1/2 of the band The Bergamot, Nathaniel Paul has just shared his brand new single The Girl with No Tattoo, a smooth indie-pop/alt-rock song out now via Both Records.
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and laid-back vibes, perfect for a relaxing weekend! The Girl with No Tattoo is written and performed by Nathaniel and takes inspiration from his wife, who, in a generation where tattoos have become ubiquitous, stands out by not having any. I have several tattoos but I do understand where he is coming from and what he is singing about - a celebration of choice, freedom and individuality. A relatable message beautifully conveyed through his smooth vocals which are accompanied by bright, shimmering synths, killer guitar riffs and steady drum patterns that come together to create an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere that challenges societal norms and celebrates individuality.
As Nathaniel explains,
Tattoos have become so widespread that not having one feels unique in itself. Branding has become part of our skin, but now, it seems like having no tattoo is a defining choice. I wanted to celebrate that uniqueness. I have never had a tattoo and don’t plan on getting one. I can’t imagine something permanent on my skin as I continue to grow and evolve as a person. Altering your body has become so prolific, so I think it’s really important to be confident in who you are. You are beautiful - just by simply being you - tattoo or not. You don’t have to change or alter yourself just so people will like you.
