Bertie Newman Shares New Single ‘Coldest Sea’

British singer-songwriter Bertie Newman shares his brand new single Coldest Sea, a warm, heartfelt indie-folk gem with touches of melancholia. 

 

Out now via Tone Tree Music, Coldest Sea is the first single to be taken from upcoming EP, due out later this year, and takes listeners on an emotional journey through loss, fear and relationships. It shows one's struggle to move on after heartbreak, capturing the pain of abandonment and how difficult it is to let go of the one you love. A relatable, heartfelt message that is flawlessly conveyed through his super smooth, expressive vocals which radiate raw, honest emotion from start to finish. The melancholia in the song is very present in his delivery and captivating production that pairs lush acoustic guitar plucks with banjo plucks, emotive piano keys, lush fiddle and subtle beats that build up in energy and emotion during the song's highly emotional chorus. Speaking about the song Bertie says:

The track is about hoping my feelings would freeze so as to withhold the loss felt. After the loss of a best friend my mental health declined and I wrote this as a way of expressing the fear of my reality at the time, whilst also making myself aware of the necessity to move forward and heal.
