Nurdjana Drops New Single ’Dancing’
Canada-based, Dutch vocalist, songwriter, and interdisciplinary artist Nurdjana shares her brand new single Dancing, a warm, breezy piece of indie folk-pop music.
Partially written by her late father, Dutch musician Rob de Rijcke, Dancing is a love letter to her mother, who has also since passed. An ode to his deep gratitude for her standing by his side through thick and thin, to the intimacy they forged through enduring vulnerability. A heartfelt declaration of love, Dancing is flawlessly conveyed through Nurdjana's gorgeous, expressive vocals which soar effortlessly over the gentle, summery production. I am also getting hints of bossa nova that are nicely intertwined with folk and indie-pop elements, together creating an overall warm, laid-back atmosphere.
The video for Dancing, directed by Hilde Barwegen, was filmed in The Hague, where Nurdjana grew up, and visually simulates this ambience of a gentle, summery breeze.
