The Candid Unveil New Single ‘Just Like Me’

Nashville-based band The Candid, consisting of singer-songwriter Delaney Willson and drummer Mason Edwards, share their brand new single Just Like Me, a heartfelt pop song out now via Hippocratic Records.

A song that took lead singer Delaney Willson several years to write, Just Like Me is a relatable song about never being really satisfied with ourselves, always wanting to be somebody else. A song flawlessly delivered through Willson's gorgeous, expressive vocals which radiate so much emotion that instantly made me feel each and every single word he is singing. Backing his heartfelt vocal delivery we have soaring guitar riffs that are seamlessly intertwined with steady drum patterns and dramatic piano keys that culminate in a highly infectious chorus packed with soul and perfect to sing along to. Speaking about the song, Delaney Willson said,
Perhaps the first thing to know is that “Just Like Me” took eight years to write. Yes. EIGHT. Almost immediately after starting my freshman year of college, the song’s hook drifted into my subconscious effortlessly: “I may have a thousand trophies catching dust upon my shelf, but isn’t it just like me to always want to be somebody else?” I think I was a bit too immature to even understand the weight of those words back then, so the song sort of sat dormant for a while. Until one day I realized this was a song about feeling like a hypocrite when I found myself emulating my own pet peeves, and about trying to pretend that hypocrisy didn't bother me. I think we captured all of those emotions in the arrangement and I’m excited to see how people connect with this song that means so much to me.
