Nia Chennai Shares New Single ‘So Pretty When You Cry’

London-based R&B singer, songwriter and artist Nia Chennai shares her brand new single So Pretty When You Cry, an upbeat R&B/Nu-Disco cut about making light of that first encounter with an ex-partner.

Out now on WNTR Sounds, So Pretty When You Cry pairs Chennai's rich, soulful vocals and relatable storytelling abilities with a plaufully upbeat slice of R&B heaven with hints of 2000's pop and reggae influences. I am really enjoying how powerful and expressive her vocals are, radiation soul and emotion that is enhanced by the captivating rhythms, groovy bass, delicate piano keys and warm brass elements that come together to create an overall upbeat, feel-good atmosphere perfect for a fun weekend.

Nia says,
I made this song by staying truthful and relatable in my lyrics as I always do. It is key for me. I had recently encountered an ex and wanted to make light of it. I had also been listening to Lily Allen - "Smile" and Lauryn Hill - "That Thing" so I knew I wanted trumpets and something a bit upbeat. I was heavily inspired by the reggae elements and since I’m half Caribbean. It’s always nice to pay homage to my culture. When your ex comes crawling back, don’t take them! You should always want more for yourself. If you want love, find someone that is loyal, respectful and brings you peace.
