Doris Club, the moniker of LA-via-Singapore artist Linying, shares her enchanting new single The Sleeper and The Bed, taken from her forthcoming debut album There’s Still Time out March 22nd via Nettwerk.
Co-written and co-produced with Rob McCurdy of Noise Club, The Sleeper and The Bed is an all-encompassing tale of heartache that finds the talented artist beautifully showcasing her smooth, emotionally-charged vocal and harmonies over a delicate fingerpicked guitar-based melody. I am loving her soft vocals which effortlessly infuse the song with a vulnerable and emotional touch, beautifully detailing the heartache of her relatable storytelling. Apart from the guitars, I am also fond of the rich textures and ambient touches that together make this quite a warm, intimate listening experience perfect for an introspective day home alone.
Speaking about the song, Doris Club said,
‘The Sleeper and the Bed’ details the heartbreak I felt watching my family disintegrate before my eyes. Pulled in multiple directions, neither option a painless one, I found myself wishing desperately that I'd had more time.
