Apollo Rising Shares New Single ‘Cherry Blossom’
Apollo Rising, the project of Canadian alternative electronic producer, pianist and vocalist Danick Coutu and drummer Colvin Gallant, has just shared the official music video for his latest single Cherry Blossom, a captivating indie/synthpop song.
I am really enjoying how smooth and effortless Danick Coutu's vocal delivery is, gliding beautifully over the infectious production. There's somewhat of a mysterious and cinematic vibe in this song that keeps me coming back to it, which is enhanced by its accompanying music video. Apart from the vocals I am really fond of the intricate guitar plucks throughout the song and how they are seamlessly paired with lush synths and killer drums towards the end that add depth and energy to the song.
The accompanying music video, directed by David Sklubal, is a narrative driven video based on 80s “film noir” movies. Shot in the edgy and concrete architecture of the city of Montréal, Canada, he narrative follows the story of a down on his luck private detective, Alex Horne, played by Danick Coutu (Apollo Rising) as he tries to get by and survive in this dystopian version of 80s Montréal. One night, detective Horne opens a mystery letter, containing an image of “Mystery Girl” played by model Sasu Isokpan with a message and a large sum of money. Check it out below!
