London-based, Welsh singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist Rye Milligan returns with his brand new single Hey Mel, the first song to be taken from his upcoming ii EP, the second EP in the illi saga.
I am a fan of Rye Milligan's distinctive tone and how passionate and heartfelt his vocal delivery sounds, exuding so much emotion that instantly connects us to his storytelling. I am also very fond of the conversational vocal part that really enhances the raw, honest emotion of his storytelling. Hey Mel is a song of reassurance, Rye's way of making someone close to him feel and realise they are indeed enough. There’s someone very close to me who often doesn’t feel like they are enough. This song is basically me saying of course you are and this is why. It’s a lot easier for me talk openly about my feelings through songwriting, that seems to be the best way to tap into my head. I appreciate that can be both daunting and sometimes, I hope, rewarding for the people who know me best.
