HAIDEE Shares New Single ‘Typical’
Canada-based, Filipino singer and songwriter HAIDEE shares her brand new single Typical, the latest single to be lifted from her 8-track album, This Shouldn't Be Typical, which is out now.
Inspired by her and her family's experiences as first-generation immigrants in Canada, Typical is a song about the increased violence against the Asian community during the pandemic. The song aims to uplift people and make them feel they're not alone, that they are seen and appreciated. What I like the most about this song is how powerful and soulful HAIDEE's vocals are, soaring effortlessly over the heartwarming production. Apart from her vocals, I am particularly fond of the emotive piano keys seamlessly paired with catchy rhythms, steady drum patterns and echoing harmonies that culminate into a memorable chorus packed with raw, honest emotion and perfect to sing along to. Speaking about the song, HAIDEE said,
During the pandemic, there was increased violence against the Asian community. I wanted to uplift our voices and experiences through a song. I wanted it to be a collaboration between another person of colour so I reached out to Josh Sahunta to write a song about this topic.
