Dutch-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Femke shares her stunning new single Love Somebody Else, an enchanting bedroom/lo-fi pop song out now via ENCI Records.
I am a fan of Femke's rich, emotive vocals and haunting harmonies which ooze so much heart and emotion that is impossible not to feel each and every single word she is singing. Love Somebody Else is a song about falling in love with someone who pretended to be a different person so you would fall for them. Unfortunately there are people out there that pretend being someone else so you end up falling in love with the person they created, only to end up finding out it was all a lie. This relatable message is beautifully conveyed through Femke's gorgeous vocals which are backed by intricate guitar pluck seamlessly paired with a steady drum beat and airy rhyhtms that together create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere. Speaking about the song, Femke said,
When I lived in LA I had an ex boyfriend who ended up being a stalker. He was incredibly good at being two completely different people and to the outside world no one would ever be able to see that other side of him. A big part of this song is about how you fall in love with one person and you think that that's who they are, until you realize it was actually someone else who just made you want to believe they were the person you fell in love with. It's been years ago that this has happened but it took a while to not walk around scared.
