The Habits Share New Single ‘The Birthday Song’

Los Angeles Alt/Pop duo The Habits, comprised of singer/guitarist Wolf Bradley and drummer Andrew Macatrao, have just shared their brand new single The Birthday Song, a high-energy piece of indie-pop music. 

Taken from their new EP I Think I'm Fine, But I Don't Know, which is out now, The Birthday Song is a relatable song about overcompensating after a break up, pretending that everything is ok even though it's just a front and you're still heartbroken and living in the past pining for someone that doesn't want to be with you anymore. The whole atmosphere of the song is quite uplifting with passionate vocals soaring effortlessly over a high-energy production that features soaring guitars, bright electronics and punchy drums that culminate into an infectious chorus perfect to sing along to. Speaking about the song, Wolf Bradley said, 
For us and our songwriting style as a band, starting off with as petty and childish of a line as, “tonight’s my birthday party, you’re not invited”, could only mean that the rest of the song would build to a much more emotional crescendo. In the verse lyrics, we wanted to convey this sense of overcompensation after a break up that people love to push on everyone. The attitude of “I’m over it and doing great” which friends and family know is just a front for a very heartbroken person. The rest of the song is honest and vulnerable and based in a more real place. It tells the story of getting drunk at your birthday party, only to take a $5 Uber to your ex’s house, and realize you’re living in the past where there is no future.
