Rebecca Lappa Shares New Single ‘Lolita’

Canadian singer-songwriter Rebecca Lappa has just shared her brand new single Lolita, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming EP Tales of a Taurus, set to arrive this May.

Out now via Tonic Records, Lolita loosely takes inspiration from the 1955 book written by Vladimir Nabokov, following the unnerving path the story takes, one of lust and desire in a sinister situation. What I like the most about this song is its infectious guitar riffs and how powerful and passionate her vocals are, packed with raw emotion and confidence. I am also very fond of the kick drum, subtle synths and dreamy harmonies that come together to lead to an anthemic chorus perfect to sing along to. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Rebecca Lappa said,
The song touches on the two main characters in the book alluding to the forbidden nature of the relationship between an older man and a much younger woman and the frenetic dynamic between the two. The muted guitars fill the track with urgency and the heartbeat of the kick drum lends commentary on the perceived sexuality and innocence of young women as interpreted by male audiences, while the careful layering of synth and harmonies leads to an anthemic chorus.
