Speaking about the song, Dalby said,
This song was so much fun because one of my favorite people in the world is the producer for this song, Dylan Rouda. We met in April of 2022 and everything we have worked on together has just sounded incredible and he just gets the sound that I look for. prom! is about a sort of fictional story where a mean girl steals the guy I liked at prom and all the cliché stuff but I really wanted to write a song that can be fun and relatable for a ton of girls during one of the most fun and stressful times of their lives, which in this case, is prom.
