Martin Luke Brown Releases New Single ‘elsie’

British singer and songwriter Martin Luke Brown has just shared his brand new single elsie, a stunning, nostalgia-infused piece of indie/dream-pop music out now via Kartel Music Group.

Taken from his upcoming debut album, damn, look at the view!, set to arrive on May 19th, elsie is a reflective, nostalgic piece of music that serves as a tribute to his hometown and childhook in Leicester. The song deals with themes of love, loss and belonging which are flawlessly conveyed through his gorgeous, expressive vocals which are packed with raw, honest emotion. I am very fond of his potent lyricism and how it is enhanced by his lush vocals and captivating production that features intricate acoustic guitar riffs, steady drums and dreamy harmonies that together create an overall warm, nostalgic atmosphere perfect for a reflective day home alone. Check it out below!

Martin comments on new single elsie
I always wanted to write a song about my life in Leicester. Not like a love song as such, but reflecting on it all. There’s a lyric in an Ethan Gruska song ‘The Valley’ that I love; ‘if childhood defines you, can it ever be behind you?’ I wanted to take that idea and run with it. I am who I am because of that era of my life and it’s been nearly 10 years since I left. This was the first song from the album project that I wrote, and it really set the tone in terms of theme - that reflective, nostalgic mood really felt correct for where I’m at now in my life.
