Alberta Cross Share New Single ‘Between You And Me’
UK-based band Alberta Cross, led by Swedish-born lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee, have just shared their brand new single Between You And Me, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming album Sinking Ships, which will be released on March 31st 2023 through Dark Matter / AMK distributed through Kartel Music Group.
I am really enjoying how expressive Petter Ericson's vocals are, beautifully connecting the listeners to their relatable storytelling. Between You And Me is a song about escapism, sounding perfect for those reflective days home alone. Apart from his vocals, I am particularly fond of the killer bass guitar riffs (And memorable solo) that are nicely paired with subtle piano chords and steady drum patterns that together create an overall warm atmosphere perfect for a laid-back day. 'Between You and Me' took a minute to finish and it went through a lot of changes along the way, especially lyrically. I started writing it in Berlin with my artist friend Martin Craft but it was left feeling unfinished, until Luke (Potashnick) and I started to work on the new Alberta Cross record at Wool Hall, we got it to where it felt close and eventually finished. Lyrically it feels like it's about escapism...wanting or seeking to be away from the noise and when you are away in transit, you get the time to reflect on everything at home. I love where the production ended up. Luke brought it to the right place.
