Jouska Shares New Single ‘Death Sentence’
Jouska, the alias of Oslo-based singer, songwriter and producer Marit Othilie Thorvik, has just shared her brand new single Death Sentence, the third single to be taken from her upcoming sophomore album Suddenly My Mind Is Blank set to arrive on February 17th via Koke Plate.
I am really enjoying the Jouka's timbre and how smooth and effortless her vocal delivery sounds, gliding beautifully over the chilled out indietronica production. Death Sentence is a song about being in a toxic relationship and how difficult it can be to get out of it, a relatable story that is wrapped around catchy synths, groovy rhythms and percussive elements that together create an overall warm and moody atmosphere perfect for a laid-back day. Speaking about the song, Jouska said,
Death Sentence was the first song I made for this album. It’s about being in a toxic relationship and the struggles of leaving. It feels like you’re gonna die if you stay and that you’re gonna die if you don’t. So you end up clinging on to it because it’s all you’ve ever known.
