Mae Mae Shares New Single ‘Green’
Atlanta-born and OC-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mae Mae has shared her brand new single Green, out now via gummy heart eyes.
Taken from her upcoming EP, due out in early 2023, Green is an upbeat, indie-pop cut that contrasts with the darker lyrics which focus on Mae Mae's inner struggle with pessimism. As a felow pessimist I really like the way Mae Mae still gives us a hopeful message of looking ahead for better times. I am really fond of her gorgeous, expressive vocals which instantly command the listener's attention to her storytelling that is backed by lush piano chords seamlessly intertwined with gorgeous bass guitar plucks, lush strings and steady drum patterns that together create an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere.
Its accompanying music video follows Mae Mae as she dances around gorgeous expanses of California desert.
Speaking about the song, Mae Mae said,
I wrote ‘Green’ in the midst of feeling pessimistic about the future. I wasn’t necessarily believing what I was writing at the time, but rather trying to change my outlook through the process of creating it. The song grew into its own thing that I feel really embodies the idea of looking ahead to greener pastures while sitting in the dead space of a creative rut.
