Alberta Cross Share New Single ‘Mercy’

UK-based band Alberta Cross, led by Swedish-born lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee, have just shared their brand new single Mercy, the first track to be taken from their upcoming seventh studio album, set to arrive in 2023.

Co-written with long term producer and collaborator Luke Potashnick, Mercy has a distinctive pulse that is repetitive and yet also infused with an effervescence. The song addresses the moments when life can feel like being on a treadmill and the effects that can have on mental health, a relatable message flawlessly conveyed through Petter's agile and emotive voice which won me over from the start. Backing Petter's lush vocals, we have a polished alt-pop production with intricate guitar lines seamlessly intertwined with expansive synths, cool rhythms, ethereal piano keys and percussive elements that together create an overall warm atmosphere!
Speaking about the song, Petter said,
Mercy is about just never being able to catch a break and that life can sometimes end up feeling like a broken record. It’s also about when we spiral and watch those around us be affected by it.
