Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Sam Valdez has just shared her brand new single Backseat, the latest single to be taken from her new EP, Crush, which is out now.
Backseat beautifully showcases Sam Valdez’s unique blend of lo-fi indie rock, Americana, pop and shoe gaze that provides an evocative backdrop for her reflective songs. I am very fond of Sam's smooth, siren-esque vocals and how they are nicely paired with lush electronics and a steady beat that together create such a comforting atmosphere. What I also like a lot about this song is how effortless Sam's storytelling is, touching on personal subjects and memories and conveying them in a poetic way. Apart from her lush vocals and harmonies, I am really enjoying the guitar riffs, killer bass and hazy rhythms that make this song perfect for a laid-back day at home or long drives.
