Khamari Shares New Single ‘Drifting’

Los Angeles-based, singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Khamari has just shared his brand new single Drifting, a chilled out piece of neo-soul/r&b music.

Produced by Khamari, Trackside, Whitenoise, and Johan Lenox, Drifting steps in with a driving beat surrounded by an impressive display of instrumental musicality. I am really enjoying his smooth, expressive vocals which glide effortlessly over the confidently breezy flow that is paired with a beautifully integrated sample of Nina Simone's chopped vocals laced throughout. A song about escapism wrapped around soulful melodies with an overall chilled out atmosphere perfect for a relaxing weekend. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Khamari said,
Drifting is about escapism. I was trying to find a different way to express that headspace I was in. Finding a way away from monotony and overwhelming emotion. Originally we started from the piano and the drums, but I wanted to elevate it. So I chopped the intro to Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’ over the track. To me, the irony in sampling a song about a woman singing about how she’s found euphoria, over a song about my struggle of being locked into a search for it, was a dope way to tell that story.
