Julian Taylor Shares New Single ‘Stolen Lands’

Toronto-based singer and songwriter Julian Taylor has just shared his brand new single Stolen Lands, a heartfelt Americana/Folk song taken from his new album, Beyond the Reservoir, which is out now through Howling Turtle. 

 

Stolen Lands is a song of fierce strife and sadness, as well as eternal hope. Its inspiration comes from Taylor’s Mohawk and West Indian ancestors, reflecting on the sacrifices they made so that he could have a good life. This message of racial trauma and the realities of colonial history is beautifully conveyed through Julian Taylor's rich, expressive vocals which are backed by a lush folk/americana production whose acoustic instruments meld together to create one conversation.
