Etaoin Shares New Single ‘If You Called’

London-based Irish singer and songwriter Etaoin has just shared her brand new single If You Called, a melancholia-infused pop song out now via MADE Records.

I am really enjoying the tone of Etaoin's vocals and how heartfelt and emotional her vocal delivery is, effortlessly making us feel each and every single word she is singing. If You Called is a story of heartache, being one of her most personal retellings of a failed boy meets girl yet. This song is laid out like an apology with a sombre backing drenched in regret that the track's tone is commanded by. Apart from her gorgeous vocals and haunting harmonies, I am particularly fond of the intricate acoustic guitar-based melody that creates an overall warm and intimate atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone, or long night drives.

Speaking about the song Etaoin said,
After my first heartbreak I made a pact with myself to never let myself care that much about anyone ever again, but then I met this boy from Ireland. We used to drive through the Irish countryside and walk the beaches and talk for hours in his car, it was literally like shit straight out of a Hannah Montana movie. He was so patient and kind and everything I should have needed, but I was so hurt and scarred that I was too scared to trust any boy and I didn’t want to commit. This caused a lot of issues and nine months in we called it quits. I realised after it all went down that I really put him through hell by pushing him away and acting like I didn’t care all the time.
Accompanying the release, Etaoin has shared its official music video which shows a stunning nighttime escape that captures her guilt and turbulence in its dark, emotional setting, leaning into her songwriting’s brutal, sobering nature to create a makeup-smeared aesthetic that matches the drama. She added,
The idea behind the video was really zooming in on that line 'I know damn well I broke him', and telling a real story from that.
