Mergui Shares New Single ‘Lie Like This’
Israeli singer and songwriter Mergui has just shared his brand new single Lie Like This, the second single to be taken from his forthcoming EP, Dark Side Of The Rainbow.
Out now via Saban Music Group, Like Like This is a beautiful and emotional ballad crafted for catharsis that finds the talented artist beautifully showcasing his gorgeous, passionate vocals and storytelling abilities. Produced by Mike Dean (Jay-Z, Beyonce, Drake, The Weeknd), Lie Like This takes listeners on an emotional journey in which love, and hate are at the centre. It's a resignation to accepting the duality of love and hate, preferring to be lied to just to stay together.
This message is flawlessly conveyed through Mergui's gorgeous vocals that feel at times vulnerable, at times powerful, raw, and silky, gliding beautifully over the captivating melodies that feature lush synths and a punchy beat that create an overall warm, emotional atmosphere.
Speaking about the song, Mergui said,
‘Like Like This’ - is about naively thinking you can fix the problems that start to appear in a relationship. Then the tracks see me realise it won’t work, start to say goodbye to the future we’d planned together, before finally saying goodbye.
Accompanying the release, Mergui has shared its official music video, directed by Omer Ben Shachar, which connects to the story told in “Sucks to know you (FU),” being a visual representation of the feelings expressed in the lyrics. The cinematic video shows Mergui driving the same car, this time through the night, on a foggy, rainy road in which he ultimately loses control and crashes, a metaphor for emotions that are impossible to deal with and burn deeply.
