Joe Hicks Shares New Single ‘Sail Away’
British singer and songwriter Joe Hicks has just shared his brand new single Sail Away, the latest single to be taken from his upcoming debut album, The Best I Could Do at the Time, set to arrive on September 23rd!
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how much energy and passion it exudes, instantly getting me in a good mood and ready for the weekend. Sail Away is a relatable song about how love, in all forms, is all that matters in this world, a message that is beautifully conveyed through his lovely, passionate vocals that glide effortlessly over the upbeat production. Apart from his vocals I am particularly fond of the intricate guitar riffs that are seamlessly intertwined with subtle piano keys, lush strings and punchy drum patterns that together create an overall feel-good, somewhat anthemic, atmosphere! Speaking about the new single, Hicks says:
‘Sail Away’ is a reminder to myself that regardless of what happens in my life and career, to love and be loved is the only thing that really matters. As soon as I had the intro chords, I knew that they felt like a beginnings of a ‘track one’, and so that informed how the rest of the song was written and recording was built up. It’s really nice to have the album open with those tension building strings, as it’s a colour palette I’ve never used before.
