Julian Taylor Shares New Single ‘Wide Awake’
Toronto-based singer and songwriter Julian Taylor has just shared his brand new single Wide Awake, a hopeful blend of folk/americana music.
Written during lockdown, Wide Awake addresses a period of turmoil and loss, sharing a message of hope and redemption that is beautifully conveyed through his rich, expressive vocals. Apart from his vocal delivery, I am particularly fond of the intricate guitar riffs throughout the song and how they are seamlessly intertwined with lush piano chords and steady drum patterns that create an overall warm atmosphere that allows for his storytelling to soar. Speaking about the song, Julian Taylor said,
There was some turmoil going on in my family and that was troubling me too. Mostly because I felt like it could have easily been avoided and at the same time a few people close to me and some that I used to be close with were going through some huge losses in their lives. I could feel their pain but wasn’t able to be there in person. So that was weighing heavily on my mind. I was going through a lot of changes and losses too and they couldn’t be there for me either.
