James Vickery Returns With Soulful New Single ‘The Reason’

After delivering his highly-praised debut album ‘Songs That Made Me Feel’ last year, South London's fast-rising R&B singer and songwriter James Vickery returns with The Reason, a soulful piece of R&B music out now via Left Side Recordings.

Produced by the renowned Fred Cox, best known for his work with Rag'n'Bone Man, Grace Carter, Mabel, Raye, Anne-Marie, Wretch 32 and countless others, The Reason sees the R&B crooner in renewed spirits off the back of his initial full-length. James Vickery's smooth and sultry voice is definitely the star of the song, instantly capturing our attention from start to finish. The Reason is a song about that moment within a relationship when you realise you are completely all in for that person, that nothing else matters anymore. This message is flawlessly conveyed through James's gorgeous and dynamic vocal delivery that oozes so much soul and emotion which is impossible not to love. Backing his velvety vocals, we have a chilled out and soulful production featuring lush guitar plucks, a sensual beat, subtle cymbal touches and cool rhythms that create an overall warm, sensual and romantic atmosphere perfect for bedroom sessions. Speaking about this offering, James Vickery said,
After my album I was trying desperately to find something that made me feel something the way a lot of those songs did. I had an idea to recreate some of the most (in my opinion) romantic songs of all time. I can’t lie, 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton and 'Movie' by Tom Misch were big inspirations for me. And with this Bedroom Soul/R&B sound I had to draw inspiration from the greatest to have done it, D’Angelo. 'The Reason' is about that stage with someone where it’s now become more than love, that nothing else matters anymore.”
