Sofia Lafuente Shares New Single ‘Religion’

British-Spanish alt-pop singer and songwriter Sofia Lafuente has just shared her brand new single Religion, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming EP Habits set to arrive this summer.

Out now via Audio Network and following on the release of Are You Listening, Religion marks a new chapter and a shift in musical direction for the multi-faceted artist. Darker and more sensual than her previous music, Sofia Lafuente taps into her Spanish heritage, seamlessly intertwining Spanish and English on this new song. I am a fan of her rich, expressive vocals which ooze so much confidence and passion, instantly capturing our attention to her storytelling. Apart from her vocals, I am particularly fond of the infectious beat throughout the song and how it is intertwined with rich synth layers and guitars that create an overall warm atmosphere and a memorable chorus perfect to sing along to. Check it out below!

Speaking of the track, Sofia says,
The track itself is a little more experimental than other songs I’ve worked on, particularly because I was listening to a lot of more alternative pop at that time. Artists like Christine and The Queens and Caroline Polachek were a real influence with the sonics. The story mainly came from being quite isolated at the time of writing it. I thought about how our commitment to a person or a dream can kind of act as a guiding compass during moments when the world is very overwhelming.
