Jem Shares New Single ‘Lost’

Turkish singer and songwriter Jem has just shared his brand new single Lost, a mesmerising and cinematic piece of alt-pop/rock music.

Drawing inspiration from the moving BAFTA and Academy Award winning film, The Pianist, Lost explores the concept of a dystopian world of a man who lost it all. This gem beautifully captures the feeling of desperation that comes from being lost, a touching story that transcends barriers. This message is flawlessly conveyed through Jem's alluring vocal delivery which is packed with so much soul and emotion, instantly making us feel each and every single word he is singing. I am particularly fond of the way Jem's vocals are layered with undulating electric guitars and steady percussion that create quite a haunting and touching atmosphere.

Speaking about the song, Jem said,
The desperation I've felt while watching the Pianist stuck with me until recent years, so I've started journaling, and the sentiments I've felt became real within this song. Feeling lost is a common theme; it is okay to feel like that; there is nothing wrong with it. When I say it out loud, it makes me feel better. I would want people to take this away.
This gem is accompanied by a visual of momentous beauty directed by Jem's older brother Necip Karakas. Taking place in an ancient church, accented with gold and dotted with the warm, gentle glow of candles, a soft spotlight pierces through the windows casting a stream of incandescent rays onto Jem illuminating him against the heavy dark shadows while Jem delicately begins 'Million years without the sun'.
