India Maxey Shares New Single ‘Treading Water’

I am really enjoying India Maxey's luscious, soulful vocals which instantly command our attention to her relatable storytelling. Treading Water is a song about being in an unsatisfactory situation where you're not progressing or moving forward, just staying in the same place. This feeling and situation is applied to a relationship that is hanging by a thread and where you spend so much time and energy to keep it going, making you forget to focus on yourself and your own needs. This message is beautifully conveyed through India's gorgeous vocals which glide effortlessly over the infectious melodies that are packed with groovy guitar plucks nicely intertwined with catchy rhythms and bass that create an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere. The song oozes chill summer vibes and that chorus got stuck to my head right after the very first listen. Have a listen to this earworm of a song below!

Speaking about the song, India Maxey said,
If you say that someone is treading water, they mean that they are in an unsatisfactory situation where they are not progressing or moving forward, just staying in the same place. In my own situation I was in a relationship barely keeping afloat and it felt like I was doing too many things for other people and not focusing enough on myself. When I came out of my relationship in the middle of covid I was super lost… writing this song was one of the best memories I had in lockdown. The song was written in a day and came together so quickly, it was the best therapy I have ever had!
