Filiah Shares New Single ‘For Someone’
Austrian singer and songwriter Filiah has just shared her brand new single For Someone, the title track of her first self-produced concept album which is out today via Mora Music.
I am a fan of Filiah's raw, emotive vocals and how they are both powerful and vulnerable at the same time, beautifully connecting the listeners to her heartfelt storytelling. This album finds Filiah telling her honest and very personal story of pain, distorted perception, finding strength and choosing herself again after the ending of a very toxic relationship with someone who now merely remains a ghostly presence. This is a song about being there for someone but realising that we should protect our feelings as well.
Filiah's vocals are definitely the star of the song and her honest storytelling is packed with raw emotion that makes it impossible not to fall in love with. I am also very fond of the delicate piano chords throughout the song and how they are nicely paired with haunting harmonies and warm rhythms that create quite a memorable, melancholy-infused atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone. Speaking about the album and song, Filiah said,
It took a long time for me to understand that there was no single reason for why this person I used to love suddenly just disappeared from my life. I guess sometimes we simply don’t really know why we do the things we do or hurt the people we love while we’re in pain or depressed ourselves. However, back then that just left me overthinking, clueless, hurt and worst- feeling obsolete to them.
I think this song summarizes the album really well, it was a way for me to say "hey, I'm here for you if you let me but I still have to look out for myself and give my feelings the space they deserve instead of always just respecting yours. I know it's over and I'm willing to move on, yet I'm not going to forget.
