London-based trio Zola Blood are back with their brand new single It Never Goes, a captivating piece of electronic music out now via White Canoe.
The first single following a two-year musical hiatus, It Never Goes is a deep, atmospheric cuit that is beautifully punctuated by impassioned vocals that are packed with raw, honest emotion. The trip hop drum loop reminds me of Massive Attack and it is nicely paired witu fluttering synths and captivating melodies that create an overall expansive, somewhat hypnotic, atmosphere. The song came together around a kind of trip hop drum loop and chopped up vocals, which is something we’ve been experimenting with a lot recently. It’s about the nature of social media and how it acts as a lightning rod for everyone’s outrage.
