Anna Shoemaker Shares New Single ‘Mariah’

Following the release of her attitude-packed indie-pop/rock cut Everything is Fine earlier this year, Brooklyn-based indie-pop singer and songwriter Anna Shoemaker returns with her brand new single Mariah, a smooth indietronica cut out now via +1 Records.

Taken from her much anticipated debut album, Everything is Fine (I’m Only on Fire), which is set to arrive on March 4th, Mariah is a cathartic release of anger, packaged into an infectious pop tune. Mariah is Anna Shoemaker's way of saying all the things she wished she said in a toxic situaltion and is wrapped around a lovely production packed with warm electronics nicely intertwined with an infectious beat and percussion that create the perfect soundscape for her lovely vocals and storytelling to soar.

Speaking about the song, Anna Shoemaker said,
'Mariah' is very self-explanatory and maybe that’s why it feels so difficult to put out. I think my favorite thing about writing is being able to sort of create characters to get out my emotions and shitty feelings and keep them far away from me. ‘Mariah’ is all the things I wish I said in a really toxic situation. Also, I always thought Mariah Carey putting out ‘Obsessed’ in response to Eminem saying they were together was the coolest move. I think in a lot of ways, as an artist, you can use music to protect yourself. You can put everything into a song and sort of let it float away.
Accompanying the release, Anna Shoemaker has shared its official music video, directed by Josefine Cardoni, which was filmed in one take and beautifully embodies the song's message and atmosphere. Check it out below!

Speaking about the video, Anna said,
It was terrifying because at the end I literally throw a guitar into the fire, so it was an incredibly high stakes situation.
