Holliss Shares Debut Single ‘Mental Pictures’

American artist Holliss has just shared her official debut single Mental Pictures, a lovely electro-pop song about living in the moment.

What I like the most about this song is its positive vibe and how sweet, honest and vulnerable Holliss' vocal delivery sounds. Mental Pictures is a song about capturing the blissful moments that make life worth living, wanting to save those moments in our memories so we can relive them whenever we want. It's a song about celebrating the meaningful moments and appreciating what's in front of us. This message is wrapped around a catchy electro-pop production packed with groovy rhythms, a memorable beat and expansive synths that create an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere. Speaking about the song, Holliss said,
Mental Pictures is all about living in the moment. So many people are living life through their phones. They’re obsessed with capturing the best picture, with the best angle, in the best lighting, not realizing that what they’re actually doing is missing the moment. There is something about just looking up from our phones, putting away the devices, and seeing/experiencing what’s really in front of us. I got the inspiration for this song on a very ordinary day. I was simply driving through my neighborhood with my boyfriend (now husband) and I looked over at him while we are at a stop light and something about the way he looked in the moonlight just captivated me. I knew that I wanted to remember it forever, but instead of pulling out my phone to take a picture like I would normally do, I put my hands up to my face and took a “mental picture” instead. We don’t give our mind enough credit. We’ve bought into the lie that a physical picture is the only way to truly capture a moment. But then I think about how vividly I remember my childhood. Before I ever had a phone. I remember it because I really lived it.
