I am really enjoying the tone of Chan Fuze's voice and how expressive and passionate his vocal delivery is, beautifully connecting the listeners to his storytelling. Sidelines is a song about cutting toxic people from your life, recognising that some friendships just weren't good for you and doing the best to keep a tight circle of friends that truly love you and are there for you. This is a very relatable song and is wrapped around a chilled out production with gorgeous guitar-based melodies that are nicely paired with a killer beat that create an overall warm and intimate atmosphere. Sidelines is a song that's very very close to my heart. This past year I struggled with friendships in my life that weren't uplifting or serving a mutual purpose. I'm never one to cut things off easily or turn people away so this was something new to me. I'm thankful for the people in my life who love me for who I am.
