Alanna Matty Shares New Single ‘Loved You First’

Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Alanna Matty has just shared her brand new single Loved You First, a slow-burning and heartbreaking dream pop/folk cut.

Taken from her upcoming album Thoughts/Feelings, Loved You First finds the talented artist beautifully showcasing her silky vocals over a warm and intimate production that won me over from the very first time. This is a song about blaming yourself for the pain following the end of a relationship, telling yourself that if you hadn't fallen so hard, maybe you wouldn't be in so much pain.

This heartbreaking storytelling is enhanced by a polished production that features a laid-back acoustic guitar nicely intertwined with a hazy layering of piano, airy synths and lush violin strings that create an overall intimate and melancholic atmosphere. I can't stop listening to this song, it is so warm and packed with tons of raw emotion and melancholia that makes me feel each and every single word she is singing. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Alanna Matty said,
Loved You First is a song about blaming yourself for the hurt that you’re feeling at the end of a relationship. Watching someone you cared about leave you in the dust and realizing that maybe if you hadn’t fallen so hard and so fast, that you wouldn’t be so hurt at the end of the day. It’s that feeling of pining for someone for so long, only to have it all end so fast. It’s opening the front door to find yourself face to face with heartbreak, and then watch them drive away from you seemingly unaffected.
