The Bergamot Unveil New Single ‘Burns’

Brooklyn based duo The Bergamot, consisting of husband and wife Jillian Speece & Nathaniel Paul Hoff, are back with their brand new single Burns, a cool indie-pop song about that burning desire to be with the ones we love.

Out now via Both Records, Burns find the duo showcasing what they do best: lovely harmonies and meaningful lyrics over a polished indie-pop production. I am a fan of their smooth vocals and how they are nicely paired, creating dreamy harmonies that will get you singing along to them in no time. Burns is a song about the desire to connect and be together physically, something most of us have felt during the lockdowns. The song also shares a positive message of reuniting with the ones we love as this will be the fully open holiday season since the pandemic began.

The Bergamot's lovely storytelling and beautiful harmonies are nicely backed by catchy melodies packed with smooth guitar plucks nicely paired with subtle synths and steady percussion which create an overall warm, laid-back atmosphere. Accompanying the release, the duo have shared its official self-directed music video, which features two people taken away from each other and being reunited. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Nathaniel Paul Hoff said,
Through 2020, we have all lost significant loved ones, things, opportunities. Taken out from right underneath us. As we reflect on what the future holds, we are uncertain what will resume or be replaced. It’s a time of great opportunity and hope, but also of tremendous uncertainty. We’ve seen great tragedy through these times - but great moments of beauty as well. We hope the video really captures the desolation but optimism that we all have for the time ahead.
