Joseph Marcus Shares New Single ‘Night Terrors’

British singer, songwriter and producer Joseph Marcus has just shared his brand new single Night Terrors, the latest single to be taken from his new album, In This Room Alone, which is out now!

I am a fan of his rich, soulful vocals and how dynamic his vocal delivery is, soaring beautifully over the warm production. Night Terrors is a personal song about struggling with fear over the course of his life, having suffered nightmares and night terrors while growing up. The song shares a message of overcoming our fears, not letting them stop us from living a full life. Apart from his gorgeous vocals, I am particularly fond of the bass and infectious beat throughout the song that is nicely paired with dreamy harmonies and catchy rhythms that create an overall warm atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone. Speaking about the song, Joseph Marcus said,
NIGHT TERRORS is about my relationship with fear over the course of my life. I wanted to explore a saying that goes something like: “Fearlessness is not the absence of fear. It's the mastery of fear”. I believe all of our ‘negative’ emotions are unavoidable, so it’s better to become in tune with them and learn to welcome them. I suffered nightmares and night terrors almost every night when I was a child, and in the song I relate that experience to what I fear now as a grown adult. There are questions I raise throughout the song like “why do I pretend I have control over things I don’t?” and “why do I self sabotage?” and the answer to each one is fear. Now that I’m older and I’ve realised that the root of all these negative and destructive feelings is fear, I can choose to look past it and see if fear is worth stopping me in my tracks, or even exploit the feeling of fear for my own enjoyment.
