Desta French Shares New Single ‘Hija’

UK LatinX singer and songwriter Desta French has just shared her brand new single Hija, the latest single to be taken from her Bendecida, out now via Unity Records.

I adore Desta French's confident, expressive vocals, particularly her British accent that comes through and contrasts beautifully with her Spanish one. Apart from her super smooth and confident vocal delivery, I am very fond of the song's warm rhythms and cool beat that instantly creates an overall chill atmosphere. Hija is part of an EP that celebrates the woman sorority, power and history wrapped around a fusion of Latin music with soulful, R&B and Hip-Hop undertones. Check it out below!

Speaking about the EP, Desta French said,
Bendecida’ is an ode to the women who raised me, and explores ideas of faith and believing in oneself, no matter what. I was raised Catholic and perhaps overlooked the subliminal impact that all those cultural references have had on the way I choose to navigate through certain relationships and decisions in my life. I have internal debates all the time which tend to go around in circles and swirls and it's this duality that I explore to some extent in the EP 'Bendecida' albeit in quite a light-hearted way. The title and content of the EP are less to do with my connection to a singular religion, but about the impact that my surroundings have had on my relationship with myself, my relationships with people, and with the society I inhabit.
