Moyka Shares New Single ‘Illusion’

Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer Moyka has just shared her brand new single Illusion, an infectious electro-pop song out now via Snafu Records.

Taken from her upcoming album Revelations, Illusion is a bittersweet song about being infatuated by someone that doesn't feel the same way about you. I have a PhD in unrequited love and illusions of love in my head so this song is perfect for me. Moyka's gorgeous vocals soar beautifully over the upbeat electronic production that instantly got me in a good mood. I am particularly fond of the memorable driving beat and how it is nicely paired with lush synths and a highly infectious pop hook that create an overall feel-good, late summer atmosphere. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Moyka said,
I went to Oslo to write songs after a long period of feeling anxious and trapped in my own head, maybe even trapped in the city I was living in as well. When I came back home with "Illusion", I instantly knew that I had to have it on the album. It felt like such a relief to write a song like this that felt both positive and naïve about the feeling of having a crush on someone. It fit right in with the story I want to tell with the album as a whole, so it was perfect. You know the feeling when you’re at a party and you catch someone’s eyes and you instantly want to hang around them and get to know them? Summer is over and you’re once again at a party with a bunch of strangers. The night turns a dark blue, maybe even a little bit violet in the horizon where the sun went down. You’re on the balcony talking, and you can still smell the last breaths of summer in between laughter and exchanged looks. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture with this song. And of course the sadder side of love, where a moment can be really special to me, but not at all for the other person.
